We are officially turning into the final straight of the year. With less than two months until we welcome in yet another New Year, who among us has already sorted their plans for 31st December?
While the festive period will naturally be at the forefront of our minds – after all, we all want to be the person who gives the best gift – it can be easy to forget that New Year is just a mere week afterwards. That strange week between Christmas and New Year when none of us really know what day it is, confined to the sofa watching repeats of The Great Escape and eating chocolate for breakfast soon passes by.
A Time for Friends
As the saying goes, Christmas is the time for family and New Year’s is the time for friends. For many of us, New Year’s Eve is the last opportunity to paint the town red before shuffling back into the office after the Christmas break. Whatever your party plans for New Year’s Eve, ensure that they are fun and the music is loud. See the year out with a bang and, hopefully, a kiss with that special someone at midnight. Even if your party may have no actual fireworks like those that can be seen around the world (no one does it quite like London, though), that doesn’t mean that you can’t welcome in 2018 in style!
However You Please
Maybe long nights and loud noise are not what you are about (at least anymore). If you prefer to mark the New Year in more laid-back fashion, then that is fine, too. Invite your close friends round for a quiet drink and reminisce about the good times and look forward to what the future holds.
As we grow older, we learn to appreciate what truly matters in life, and that is those around us. Materialistic possessions come and go, and even good friends become casual acquaintances, but memories will last forever. It is those experiences that we hold so dear that make us who we are today, and who we will be in the New Year and the proceeding years.
Games
Party games that can be played by all young and old hold a special place in the fountains or New Year celebrations – or any festivity, for that matter. Whether you are more of a Pictionary person, or you much prefer a more reserved game of Scrabble, there is something for everyone.
We might suggest keeping the Monopoly board firmly in its box, however, as stories of squabbles between family and friends have become famous. After all, it’s only a game!
Party Room Hire
If you really want to make an event of it, hiring out a room for the evening for all of your friends and family will promise to yield a party to remember. Many venues include catering and other entertainment as part of a package deal, so it is certainly worth shopping around if this is something that you are interested in.
To liven up the party, a DJ will ensure that all celebrations run smoothly or, if you would rather keep costs to a minimum, setting up a number of speakers and using your carefully selected playlist will be just as good. Make sure to include all of the favourites in order to keep the dancefloor buzzing long into the night!
However you decide to celebrate this New Year’s Eve, start planning now to avoid disappointment, especially if you are planning on hosting or attending an event
