It’s only a week or so ’til Christmas, so I’m sure most of us are well and truly in the festive spirit. I, for one, definitely am and one of my favourite ways to get ready for the ‘big day’ is to pop on my fav cuddly onesie, grab a glass of mulled wine and snuggle down my pug, Sonny, to watch one of my favourite Christmas films!
If you’re struggling to know what to watch this year, I’m here to help you out with the Top 10 Christmas Films 2015. Now, don’t just take my word for it; these are the Top 10 best festive films to watch as voted for this year in a survey conducted by Hyperfine Media. They asked over 2,000 people ‘what is the best Christmas film of all time?’ and the results are in…
Home Alone – this was the top result as voted for by 321 people! I know this is a Christmas fav, and every year when it comes on TV I have to tune in, even if it’s only on-and-off. It certainly doesn’t feel like Christmas without watching it.
It’s a Wonderful Life – this film such a Christmas classic. My local art deco theatre actually shows this on a big screen during the holidays and it’s a lovely vintage day out. Recreate the feeling at home on the telly.
Love Actually – one of my personal favourites! I can totally understand why 166 other people voted this their favourite film. Despite having this on DVD, I also watch it whenever I see it pop up on TV. I’m a sucker for the overlapping love stories.
The Snowman – n’awww. I used to watch this every year as a kiddie! My Mum actually told me this week that this film is only about 25 minutes long. I couldn’t believe it! It felt like a proper feature film as a child.
Elf – love a bit of Buddy the Elf in December. It’s a really funny film for all ages and is pretty tame yet quirky. Great for putting on whilst decorating the tree!
Miracle on 34th Street – this was also a favourite of mine as a child. I love how it promotes that Father Christmas really DOES exist. It’s really magical.
Die Hard – 126 people said this was their favourite film, but I can’t see it myself. There’s just something about DYING that I don’t reckon is that festive.
The Nightmare Before Christmas – is this really a Christmas film, or is it a Halloween film really? Or both?! I watch it on both occasions and really love Tim Burton’s gothic twist on the festive holidays.
A Christmas Carol – I was never too keen on this one but 108 other people love this film. It is a classic story though, so can understand why it was voted the 9th favourite Christmas film.
The Muppet Christmas Carol – finally, The Muppets just had to make an appearance! This is a great family film and good for a sing-along on boxing day
So, that’s what 2,000 people voted their favourite films. But what about you? What will you be watching this year? I’m personally a bit suprised that two of my favourite Christmas films, Edward Scissorhands and The Holiday weren’t included. But, that reminds me, I best drag out those DVD’s and get watching. See you in an hour or two…
