As the nights draw in and the weather starts to take a turn for the worse, for many of us (me included), thoughts inevitably begin to turn towards the Christmas period. I mean, it’s hard to avoid with the supermarkets starting to put advent calendars on the shelves already! But with the festivities come the added pressures of buying presents for our loved ones, which seems to get harder and harder each year! That’s why I started to think already about what they might like… And if someone bought me a killer pair of shoes for Christmas then I would be over the moon!
Vouchers, books, toys and toiletries all make for common gifts and are a little bit too predictable, but what if you’re looking for something a little different to surprise your friend, partner or family member? Picking up a pair of shoes – flat, heeled or trainers – could be the perfect answer, and here’s why:
So often, birthday and Christmas gifts go unused once we’ve ripped off the wrapping paper – we’ve all had that hideous knitted jumper from a grandparent that will never see the light of day, or a copy of that book that you already bought for yourself a few weeks ago.
But with shoes, you can be sure that the recipient is certain to use them. No matter who you’re buying for – partner, child, friend or grandparent, we all need a trusty pair of shoes to go about our day to day business, so you can rest assured your gift will not go to waste and the recipient will feel the benefit for a long time to come.
Whether you opt for a pair of special occassion heels, a pair of winter boots or (like I seem to always ask for now) a comfortable pair of trainers, there will also be an occassion for your loved one to wear them. And every time they do, they will think of you!
Why not opt for a break from the norm and treat your loved one to something a little different? Shoes are an unusual gift that require a little more thought and intimate knowledge, and that’s what makes them all the more special. After all, you need to consider someone’s personal style, the brands they usually wear and which ones they don’t. If you know they have lusted after a pair of Louboutins for sometime (I’m not suggesting you splash £500ish cash on a Christmas pressie) but you could use that as inspiration to buy a pair of black patent court shoes of a similar style.
Or, if you know your loved one only wears a certain style of shoe, why not get them something similar but slightly outside of what they would choose themselves. Think; a pair of Converse but in a brighter colour. Something they are likely to wear but wouldn’t have thought of buying for themselves. Something to help push them outside of their comfort zone!
So, if you’re searching for gift ideas for your partner, what better way to show how much you love them than by getting hold of a pair of shoes that perfectly fits their styles and tastes?
Of course, the recipient of your gift is unlikely to appreciate their shoes if they tear their feet to shreds or leave them with blisters. And let’s be honest, that can happen! Depending on who you are buying for, a pair from the likes of Mobility solutions could be the perfect gift for parents or grandparents. For a present that will be used over and over again, why not go for a pair that provide excellent comfort, ensuring that your loved one really gets the most out of your generosity. For your partner, go for a pair of trainers from their favourite brand to encourage them to wear them every day.
Comfortable, reliable footwear can be hugely beneficial to a person’s lifestyle, so don’t think of your present as just a pair of shoes – they can be so much more than that!
