Winter Wedding Outfit: Dark Florals and Faux Fur

There’s something so magical about Winter weddings, isn’t there? If I eventually ever find someone who would put up with me enough to want to marry me, I always thought I’d love a snug, Wintery wedding but for now, I’ll take the pleasure in indulging in others’! Of course, dressing for a Winter wedding can be a little tricky; you can’t simply pop on a maxi dress and heels and be done with it like you are in the Summer, instead, you need to carefully consider your warmer accessories too – which is where my capsule collection of faux fur coats come in!

Despite it being Winter, I had to go for a floral maxi dress for this Winter Wedding look – the black background of the print contrasting with the deep reds and warm oranges and yellows of the flowers lend themselves so nicely to the darker nights. I actually wore this exact same floral wrap dress to my friend’s Summer wedding in June and it was just as appropriate, but with my stunning maroon faux fur coat from Cari’s Closet, and black accessories became perfectly repurposed for Winter.

If a floral dress doesn’t take your fancy for a Winter wedding, there are tons of stunning wedding guest dresses suitable for all year round available both online and on the high street. You could even kill two birds with one stone and purchase a dress suitable for both a wedding and your work’s Christmas party… Two in one! Key trends I would look out for when searching for a dress suitable for weddings in a cooler climate is for long sleeves, high necks and midi-length hemlines – but necessarily not all on the same dress! Adding long sleeves to a dress instantly makes it look a little more formal (and less ‘girls night out’) and of course, will help take the chill off your arms during the evening. A high neck is always a nice touch for a wedding guest outfit, especially if the ceremony is taking place in a church or place of worship; it looks trendy and is also respectfully modest! Last, but not least, a midi length hemline is relatively smart, an acceptable length for colder weather and above all is super flattering. Hemlines that cut off just past your knee and reveal just your calves and ankles draw attention to the slimest part of your legs and help to elongate your silhouette. And let’s be honest, ladies, who wouldn’t want that?!
